Loving Father, Thank you
for all who are part of our school. Please grant them your encouragement, wisdom and peace.
Strengthen teachers
who have heavy workloads. May they be firm, yet patient, expecting excellence but forgiving mistakes.
May they support their students, playing to strengths, helping with struggles and motivating them to do their best.
Comfort and restore
those living under shadows of unhappiness, abuse, pain or fear. May many find faith discovering their identity in You and knowing Your amazing grace in their lives.
Please pour out Your blessings
upon our whole school community.
In Jesus name.
Amen
We have had another busy two weeks here at St Cuthbert’s. Our Farm Extravaganza last Wednesday which saw the Dare Family sharing a few of their farm animals with all students. A selection of students from Grade 3-6 represented St Cuthbert’s at the Catholic All Schools Athletics Carnival and many achieved personal bests in their events. Yesterday we were lucky enough to have the Taiko Drumming Group visit St Cuthbert’s and work with all of our students from Kindergarten to Year 6 with a whole school performance at the end to showcase what they had learnt throughout the day. Finally today our Kinders participated in their athletics carnival and a music showcase. This event enabled our kinder parents and their buddies in Grade 5/6 to witness the skills they have been working on in both Music and PE throughout the year, and it was so wonderful to see them having fun in both settings.
The next fortnight we have our Learn to Swim program at Clarence pool, and next Monday our Lantern and House leaders will represent St Cuthbert’s at the Remembrance Day service at ANZAC Park.
We look forward to sharing with you in our next newsletter our participation in these events.
Warm regards
Melissa Thirgood

Before School Reminder
A reminder that our school day begins at 8.45am. Our teachers open the doors to students at 8:30am. Students who are not on the bus must be arriving between 8:30am and 8:45am as our duty of care for the students does not begin until 8:30am. This is due to our busy teachers using the time before 8:30am to prepare the learning and their classroom space for the day ahead.
Blessed Carlo Acutis
Last Thursday 31st October, Grade 5/6 welcomed Mrs. Leanne Prichard from Catholic Education Tasmania to talk about Blessed Carlo Acutis. A first-class relic of Blessed Carlo Acutis, an Italian teenager soon to be canonised, visited Tasmania in July.
The relic, a strand of Carlo’s hair, and the exhibition, visited parishes and schools across the whole of Tasmania, including Hobart.
Carlo who died from leukaemia at age 15 is set to become the first millennial saint after the Vatican recently announced that his cause for canonisation had been approved.
Mrs. Prichard spoke to our Grade 5/6s about the incredible person that Carlo was and how he changed so many lives at such a young age. We would like to thank Mrs. Prichard for taking the time to come and share her knowledge with the students.
Grade 1/2 Red Visit with Father Kasun
This week, 1/2 welcomed Father Kasun into their class to share a prayer liturgy to celebrate their work on being ‘shining lights for everyone to see.’ The children were perfect in their liturgy and Father Kasun thanked them for being ‘his shining lights.’ To finish the liturgy, Father Kasun was shown our new lantern in the bottom playground.
Volume and Capacity Week
This week we have set up a range of hands-on materials for all our classes to explore the concept of volume and capacity. This is to complement explicit teaching in the classroom and these new resources have been used from Kinder to Grade 6.
Taiko Drumming
On Tuesday we were lucky enough to have the Taiko Drumming group which features the Japanese art of drumming. Students from Kinder to Grade 6 took part in practical sessions as well as being treated to a performance from the talented group.

Rocket Maths
Rocket Maths is a maths fluency program that assists students to build their automaticity with their number facts in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It is a quick, daily activity that allows students to work at their own level and pace with students moving through levels from A-Z in each of the areas. This program has been running successfully in the Grade 3-6 space, and this term Prep has had a chance to explore this program.

School Basketball Tournament
This weekend our 3/4s will be representing St Cuthbert’s in the 2024 Primary Schools Basketball Tournament. We wish them all the best. A big thank you to all those involved with getting this organised.

1/2 RED
In Grade 1/2, we’ve been exploring the beautiful
message of shining our light! ✨ Jesus reminds us
that "You are like light for the whole world."
Just as a city on a hill can’t be hidden, neither can
our unique lights!
We’ve learned that while some lights may sparkle
brightly, others glow softly, and that’s what makes
us so special. Each of us shines in different
ways. What matters most is that we are shining
together, spreading love ❤️ and joy to everyone
around us.
Together, we are lighting up our classroom and our
community, showcasing the good things we do to
praise our Father in heaven.
Let's keep shining bright!

A reminder of our updated Uniform Policy which we are moving towards being fully in place from the beginning of next year. This can we found here:
A reminder that ALL children’s hair must be tied back if it is falling below the collar.
Leggings
The uniform committee have been actively searching for a provider that we can recommend to our families for the purchase of leggings. We are pleased to communicate that School Active Sports, an online company, sell Forest Green 3/4 length leggings for $39.95 and full length leggings for $49.95. Postage of these is approximately $10. We have purchased the following sizes: size 4 and size 6 if families would like to come to the office to gauge sizing, but according to current families who have already purchased these the sizes are smaller than normal so it is recommended to go up a size for your child. One of our committee members did contact the company and they can also custom make bigger sizes that are not listed on their website. Please see link below to purchase:
