Dear God,
We rejoice and give thanks for earthworms, bees, ladybirds and broody hens;
for humans tending their gardens, talking to animals,
cleaning their homes and singing to themselves;
for rising of the sap, the fragrance of growth,
the invention of the wheelbarrow and the existence of the teapot,
we give thanks. We celebrate and give thanks.
Amen.
We are now more than half way through Term 4 and our students and staff are enjoying the riches of the longer days and warmer weather! Our Grade 6’s are getting ready to visit their respective High Schools for an orientation/transition day next Monday and we have recently just voted and appointed our 2025 Grade 6 Lantern and House Leaders.
I am pleased to announce the following students as our Lantern Leaders for 2025:
Evelyn Curtain
Harley Gray
Oliver Upton
Ava Kamaric
Hope Lorkin
Addison Oates
The students appointed as House Leaders for Term 1 2025 are:
Olivia Smallwood - Flynn House
Sion Shrestha - Rogers House
Mya Jennings - Presentation House
These students will be commissioned and receive their badges early in 2025 as a part of our beginning of year celebrations. We congratulate each of them on being appointed in these roles and trust they will lead St Cuthbert’s by being role models of our school expectations of; Being their Best, Being Respectful, Being Safe and Being a Learner.

Learn to Swim:
Last week saw our Prep - Grade 2 students hit the water for our week long Learn to Swim program at Clarence Aquatic Centre. Students learnt a mixture of water safety techniques to aide them when in and around water, whilst also enhancing their overall swimming skills. We are halfway through our Grade 3-6 program this week and would like to thank Mr Sandy Clark for his organisation of this program. The Learn to Swim program is essential for primary students as it promotes water safety, reduces the risk of drowning, and fosters lifelong skills. Learning to swim supports overall well-being, aligning with key curriculum outcomes in health, physical activity, and safety.
Musical Showcase next week
As outlined in our Term 4 overview, next week we have our students partaking in a Music Showcase at school. Prep - Grade 2 will be performing musical numbers on Tuesday 26th November. We welcome parents to attend and please be seated in our hall by 1:40pm for a 1:45pm start. Grade 3-6 will be performing musical numbers on Wednesday 27th November in our hall and again we welcome parents to attend and please be seated by 1:40pm for a 1:45pm start. The choir will be performing on both days.
Before School - Reminder
A reminder that our school day begins at 8.45am. Our teachers open the doors to students at 8.30am. Students who are not on the bus must be arriving between 8.30am and 8.45am as our duty of care for the students does not begin until 8.30am. This is due to our busy teachers using the time before 8.30am to prepare the learning and their classroom space for the day ahead.
Gratitude
As we approach the season of giving, it’s a perfect time to reflect on the importance of gratitude in our lives. Gratitude is not just about saying "thank you" — it’s about fostering a deeper sense of appreciation for the people, experiences, and moments that shape us each day. In school, expressing gratitude can have a powerful impact on our community, strengthening our bonds and encouraging a positive, supportive environment.
Gratitude helps us focus on the good, even during challenging times. It shifts our mindset from what we lack to what we have, making us more resilient and optimistic. Whether it’s thanking a teacher for their guidance, appreciating a friend’s kindness, or simply noticing the beauty of a quiet moment, practicing gratitude can bring warmth to our hearts and spark a sense of joy in our everyday lives.
In Grade 3/4 we have been looking at how we can show gratitude towards all of the wonderful things that we have in our lives. Here are some examples that our students wanted to share:
A reminder of our updated Uniform Policy which we are moving towards being fully in place from the beginning of next year. This can we found here:
A reminder that ALL children’s hair must be tied back if it is falling below the collar.
Leggings
The uniform committee have been actively searching for a provider that we can recommend to our families for the purchase of leggings. We are pleased to communicate that School Active Sports, an online company, sell Forest Green 3/4 length leggings for $39.95 and full length leggings for $49.95. Postage of these is approximately $10. We have purchased the following sizes: size 4 and size 6 if families would like to come to the office to gauge sizing, but according to current families who have already purchased these the sizes are smaller than normal so it is recommended to go up a size for your child. One of our committee members did contact the company and they can also custom make bigger sizes that are not listed on their website. Please see link below to purchase:

Please see below a photo of two of our Grade 3 girls: Dotti and Lana Matcham who are wearing a size 10 in the 3/4 length leggings.
