Dear Parents and Guardians
Thanks
As we head toward the end of another great term at St Cuthbert’s I would like to acknowledge and thank our community for their continued support and encouragement. Our students have worked enthusiastically throughout the term and no doubt are looking forward to having a well-earned rest. A special thank you to our staff for all of the work they do for our students. We are blessed to have such committed and dedicated educators standing in front of our students each day.
We wish everyone a peaceful and restful break and hope that you get to spend some quality time with family and friends. We look forward to catching up with everyone again in Term 2.
ANZAC Day
This year ANZAC Day falls on the second Friday of the holiday break. Our students are invited to attend the Lindisfarne RSL ceremony at ANZAC Park. Our Lantern Leaders will lay a wreath on behalf of the school and our school choir will also be in attendance.
Mrs Thomas will meet students at the Lindisfarne Post Office at 7:15 am for the Main Parade, before moving on to ANZAC Park Cenotaph at 7:30 am for the Main Service. The Service should be finished by 8:15 am. All students should be wearing full school uniform.
Parents and Friends
The Parents and Friends Easter Raffle was once again a huge success. On behalf of the school I would like to thank our Parents and Friends for organising this very popular event. Great prizes and a great response from our community.
Basketball Tournament
The recent basketball tournament held over the past two weekends was a tremendous success. Congratulations to all the students who represented St Cuthbert’s. We saw some outstanding individual and team performances. It was wonderful to see so many parents, guardians and staff members supporting our students. A special thank you to Mr Sandy Clark for organising this event.
Please see the special report below on our Chess Tournament held this week!

A Busy Term in Religious Education at St. Cuthbert's Catholic School
It has been a bustling and spiritually enriching term here at St. Cuthbert's in the Religious Education space. We’ve been involved in many meaningful activities and projects, and as we approach the end of the term, we are finishing with a flourish!
Wear Purple for Lent and Coin Lines
Our final fundraising event for Project Compassion has been a great success. On Wear Purple for Lent day, our students embraced the opportunity to show their support for this important cause by wearing purple and raising funds through class coin lines. We have only counted three class tallies so far, and have already raised over $250!! (which will be donated to Caritas Australia to aid the efforts of Project Compassion.) We are still waiting for all classes to finalise their donations. Once all the donations have been collected, we will announce the total amount raised to our families. A heartfelt thank you to all our families for their generous contributions and continued support of our fundraising initiatives. Your kindness makes a real difference in the lives of those in need.

Holy Week Prayer Spaces
Although Holy Week falls in the first week of the holidays this year, we have found a meaningful way to engage with the significance of this special time. Instead of our usual liturgies focused on the final week of Jesus’ life, prayer spaces have been set up in the hall, providing students and staff with an opportunity for personal reflection and prayer. These spaces have been thoughtfully created to encourage a deep and peaceful engagement and connection with Lent and Easter, offering a quiet, reflective atmosphere for all involved.
As we wrap up this term, we are grateful for the ways our community has come together in faith and service. Wishing everyone a blessed Holy Week and a restful holiday break.

Chess Tournament
Six of our talented students recently represented St Cuthbert’s at an interschool chess tournament held at Clarence High School, competing against players from a number of other schools. Each student demonstrated impressive skill, focus, and sportsmanship throughout the day, making our school community very proud. Well done Alexandre, William, Connor, Alexander, Wilbur and Flynn.
A special thank you goes to Deb Williams for accompanying and supporting our students at the event.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to announce that St Cuthbert’s will be hosting its very first in-school chess tournament for students in Grades 1 to 6. This fun and friendly competition is set to take place toward the end of Term 2. Stay tuned for more details soon!

Congratulations Tilly Ross!
This term in Art we have been focusing on the first element of Art - creating a line! All work starts with a mark on a page and we have been learning about all the different marks we can make.
Prep has been learning about different types of lines and how we can put them together to make these fantastic Line Monsters.
School Photo Day will be held in Week 2 of Term 2 on Wednesday 7th May 2025. Ordering details below.
