Principal’s Report
Dear Parents/Guardians
Catholic Education Week
Last week we celebrated “Catholic Education Week” with great enthusiasm. On Monday we celebrated the feast of St Cuthbert with a beautiful mass in the hall. During the mass we announced the St Cuthbert’s scholar for 2017. The St Cuthbert’s Scholar Award, in honour of Nathan Mogford, a past student, is awarded to a student for showing persistence and determination in the pursuit of academic achievement. This year’s award winner is Taylah Jenkins from Grade 4. Congratulations Taylah!
On Wednesday we hosted our “Grandparent’s and Significant person” morning. We had an overwhelming response to this event with close to 200 grandparents in attendance. Grandparents visited classes before moving to the hall for morning tea and a spirited performance by our school choir. Thank you to our Parents and Friends for providing morning tea. Thanks also to Mr Lachlan Marsh for coordinating this event and ensuring that it was such success!

On Thursday, our Grade 3/4 class represented our school at the Catholic Education Week Mass at the Cathedral.
The much anticipated staff versus students’ netball game will be held this week.
Parent Teacher
If you were unable to meet with your child’s teacher at last week’s Parent/Teacher interviews and would like to discuss your child’s progress, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher to make an appointment.
ANZAC Day
I am seeking Expressions of Interest from families, preferably where there is a Grade 6 student, to lay the wreath on behalf of St Cuthbert’s Catholic School at the 7.30am ANZAC DAY Service in Lindisfarne. Please contact me if you might be interested.
The School will also be participating in the ANZAC March that leaves from the Lindisfarne Post Office at 7am. All students are invited to be part of this.
Newsletter Changes
We are continually attempting to refine our communication with parents and are now working with Schoolzine to construct an electronic newsletter with many additional features.
Schoolzine has helped transform our school newsletter into a multifunctional, interactive platform that can accessed wherever you have internet. At home on your PC, via your mobile or on your iPad – completely at your convenience.
The newsletter is sent out via Skoolbag, and placed on our website. It will also be emailed out to all parents who have provided their email to the office. We will continue to have hard copies of the newsletter available at the School Office.
We hope that you enjoy this change to our communication and share with as many families as possible.

St Patrick’s Day
On Friday 17th March, St Cuthbert's celebrated St Patrick's Day with our traditional parade. Students dressed in green or Irish themed outfits. Some St Patrick look-a-likes were spotted in the crowd. Over $200 was raised on the day to support Project Compassion. St Patrick lived in the 5th century AD and is generally credited with bringing Catholicism to Ireland. St Patrick has an important connection to Australia through our Irish convict heritage and the many Irish missionary priests and religious who migrated to Australia in the 19th and 20th centuries.

T20 Blast School Cup Cricket
Well done to all students who participated in the T20 Blast School Cup on the Domain on Monday the 20th March 2017. It was great to see the students in action against quality sides. Our girls' team did very well in representing St Cuthbert's and came equal second in their group. The boys had some tough games against Taroona Primary and the Hutchins School, but played some very good cricket. Well done to all our students and special thanks to Mr Sawyer and the parents who helped our students get to the T20 Blast School Cup.
