Prayer and Reflection

Principal’s Report

Dear Parents and Guardians

Welcome

It my great pleasure to welcome all students, parents and staff to St Cuthbert’s Catholic School for the 2018 academic year. We particularly welcome our new families and students.

It was wonderful to see so many happy and excited students returning to school last Thursday. The beginning of the year is always a time of great anticipation and expectation and there was a real buzz in the air with everyone catching up on all of the holiday news!

I am delighted to report to you that our students have settled well into their new classes and are quickly acquainting themselves with their new classmates, teachers and learning teams.

We welcome our new staff members for 2018. Mrs. Tamika Lowe in Kindergarten, Mrs. Louise Zegveld in Grade 1/2 Green, Mrs. Melissa Thirgood in Grade 3/4 Red and Green, and Mrs. Georgina Fleming as Learning Support Teacher. We are also very fortunate to have two student teachers working with us for the first four weeks of term, Miss Jessica Wiggins in Prep and Miss Sian Prior in Grade 1/2 Green.

I look forward to working with everyone again in 2018. It is my prayer and hope that the year will be a very rewarding and enjoyable one for all students and we look forward to celebrating the many milestones throughout 2018.

Acknowledgement / Thanks

A special thank you to Mr John Sawyer for all of the work he has put in over the holidays to ensure that our school looked its very best at the start of the year. He has done a wonderful job reviving and restoring our grassed areas and the addition of a new vegie patch outside kinder looks fantastic. We also thank Mrs Karen Sawyer and Mrs Allison Norman for all of the administrative work that they have done to ensure that we all get off to as smooth a start as possible.

Congratulations

We congratulate Brigitte and Raf Gralak on the birth of their first child, Giovanni, who was born on December 27. Giovanni and Brigitte have already been in for a visit, both looking the picture of health!

Parking and Pick-Up
Drop Off/ Pick Up Zone

Could all parents and guardians please comply to the following protocols in regard to the pick-up and drop off of students at St Cuthbert’s Catholic School:

  • Please ensure that the NO PARKING zone that is sign-posted outside the school on Corinna Road is strictly observed. This is a drop-off/pick-up zone only.
  • Cars must not be left unattended in the zone.
  • Parents are asked to drive around the block if they cannot see their child ready to be picked up.
  • At pick-up time could all drivers please enter Corinna Road from Lincoln Street and exit at Lowanna Rd. (essentially making Corinna Road one way at this time of the day).
  • There is no parent parking in the cul-de-sac in Moirunna Road near the Kindergarten and Prep classrooms.
  • Please be respectful and courteous to our neighbours by not parking over driveways.

Your cooperation and understanding of these protocols is greatly appreciated.

Achievements

Well done to Veronika Davie (3/4 Red) who participated in the Cadbury Marathon in the holidays and did very well. It’s great to see our students getting some early practise in for our Cross Country Carnival.
