Principal’s Report
Dear Parents / Guardians
Canberra Trip
This week 50 of our Grade 5/6 students head to Canberra for their major excursion of the year. Being a veteran of several Canberra trips I know that our students will have an outstanding week, visiting the nation’s capital and consolidating and building upon months of learning in the class. They will visit the National Gallery, Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial and Australian Institute of Sport to name just a few of the highlights on their itinerary.
The Canberra trip is also a time of great personal growth for our students. For some students it’s the first time that they have spent a substantial time away from home or flown interstate without their parents. We wish them all the very best and pray that they take advantage of every opportunity presented to them during their time away.
Staffing Changes – Term 4
I write to inform you of staffing changes for Term 4 in our Grade 5/6 classes. Mrs. Di O’Rourke will be taking Long Service Leave and will be travelling overseas with her husband for the entire Term. Mrs. Deb Williams has been appointed Acting Assistant Principal: Learning and Teaching in her absence.
To accommodate these changes, we have appointed Mrs. Sarah Cassidy and Mrs. Rebecca Cooray. Sarah and Rebecca are highly experienced educators who have recently worked at Holy Rosary Catholic School and St John’s Catholic School respectively. Sarah and Rebecca will have an opportunity to come in and meet the classes before the end of term and will work closely with our Grade 5/6 team to ensure a smooth transition and handover.
Staffing for Term 4 in Grade 5/6 will be as follows:
Grade 5/6 Blue
Monday – Tuesday Mrs. Sarah
Cassidy
Wednesday – Friday Mrs. Juanita Topham
Grade 5/6 Green
Monday – Wednesday Mrs. Deb
Williams
Thursday – Friday Mrs. Rebecca Cooray
I know you will join with me in welcoming Sarah and Rebecca to the St Cuthbert’s community. We congratulate Deb on her new appointment and also wish Di a well-deserved break. We look forward to hearing all of her travel stories over the next few months.
Building Project
I am delighted to inform our community that Morrison and Breytenbach Architects have been appointed as our architects for the Early Years Building project. Check out their website, pretty impressive!
