Principal's Report
Welcome Back!
We are delighted to welcome everyone back to another exciting year of learning at St Cuthbert's. We would particularly like to welcome new students and their families to our community. We look forward to working closely with all of you throughout the year.
Our students have made a fantastic start to the year, settling in well to their new classes. Our immediate focus across the school is ensuring that all students are fully aware of our expectations around learning and behaviour.
At the beginning of the year our staff were very fortunate to attend some professional learning from UK behaviour expert, Tom Bennett. Tom spoke to us about the need to explicitly teach the behaviour we want to see and that, for some students, we can't assume that they fully understand what good behaviour looks like. Tom stressed the need to interweave a behaviour curriculum with our mainstream learning to ensure that we create a culture that is consistent and understood across the school.
Capital Works
2025 will be an exciting year as far as capital development is concerned at St Cuthbert’s! The next phase of our playground development will be happening this year. I speak of course of the area next to the Early Years Center and the undercroft area. This project will include new courts and a passive play space. The project is about to be put out to tenders.
The other exciting project is the building of a new Grade 1/2 unit which will be situated where Presentation House is currently located . We are in the process of working with the same award winning architects who designed our Early Years Center and are hopeful of construction commencing at the end of this year.
Student Free Day
Please note that the first day of Term 2, 28 April 2025 is a student free day at St Cuthbert's.
Nut Aware School
Please note that our school is a nut free environment. Please do not send any food items containing peanuts or tree nuts to school. This would include nutella and hazelnut spreads. We appreciate your support with this as we have students with severe allergies.
P&F
Thank you to our Parents and Friends for catering and welcoming our new and old families by providing morning tea in the first few days of school in Week 1. We are really grateful to them for providing our community an opportunity to get together for the start of the year.
