Religious Education News
Welcome back to a brand new and exciting year at St. Cuthbert’s Catholic School.
Jubilee Year
Late last year, Pope Francis declared 2025 as a year of Jubilee. In the Catholic Church, a Jubilee year is a special year of celebration and forgiveness that happens every 25 years. It’s like a big "spiritual reset" where people are encouraged to pray more, help others, and ask for forgiveness. During a Jubilee, the Pope might invite people to visit important churches or holy places, and there are special ceremonies. The main idea is to bring people closer to God, celebrate God's love, and start fresh in their faith. It’s a joyful time to show love and kindness to everyone! This year’s theme for Jubilee is ‘Pilgrims of Hope’. The theme reminds everyone that, no matter where they are on their journey, they are not alone—God is with them, guiding them towards renewal, peace, and joy. It encourages people to approach the Jubilee Year with a spirit of hope, ready to grow in their faith, receive forgiveness, and build a better future together. Our classes are already well underway in learning about what it is to be a Pilgrim of Hope in their Religious Education lessons.
