Positive Behaviour Support
This year we will continue with an explicit focus on teaching of social and emotional wellbeing. We saw amazing student success with meeting and exceeding our School Expectations with explicit teaching and support of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL).
This follows much research showing that children who have developed social and emotional skills find it easier to manage themselves, relate to others, resolve conflict, and feel positive about themselves and the world around them. This then leads to children being able to engage more fully in the academic and social elements of school.
With our whole school approach to Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), we see a particular expectation focus introduced every two weeks. Our focus will be based on our School Expectations and in line with the Australian Curriculum. This enables a consistent whole school focus on Social Emotional teaching and learning.
The focus area is introduced at Monday assemblies by our student leaders. Teaching teams then plan and focus specifically on this area to help students experience success.
We will soon see our lantern in the office light up with flames as students meet and exceed our expectations.
