Learning and Teaching
Assessment and Reporting
Teachers are busy preparing for Learning Conferences on June 10th and 11th. The conferences form an essential part of our assessment and feedback cycle and all parents are strongly encouraged to attend. Work samples will be shared which will give you insightful information into your child’s progress and future learning goals in English and Maths. These meetings will replace the general comment in the mid year report which will now be a brief summary of learning behaviours.
Run For Henry
It was a cold and frosty morning when a group of parents, teachers and students gathered together to run for Henry in the City to Casino 2.7km race. Henry is one of our Kindergarten students and is this years ambassador to raise awareness for Cystic Fibrosis. A well as a wonderful community event, this was a great fundraising opportunity for the 65 Roses foundation that supports families who live with Cystic Fibrosis. You may have even spotted us on the TV news.
Our Go Red for Henry Day was well supported and raised important funds for Cystic Fibrosis. Students all wore red and met Henry as he came into classrooms to collect your donations (which I’m told were very heavy!)

Following on from our last newsletter we would like to congratulate our 5/6 Debating teams who both won their contests against students from The Hutchins School. I was lucky enough to visit one of their planning sessions to get a small insight into the way the teams work collaboratively to plan their arguments and their responses to their opponents likely counter arguments. We wish them good luck in their future competitions and thank Mrs Wheatley for coaching the team and the parents who provide transport and in person support at the events.
