Intergenerational Playgroup
Kinder have been fortunate enough to be involved in piloting an Intergenerational Playgroup with the Queen Victoria Residential Facility. The residents have visited the Early Years Centre and we have walked down to visit them! This is aimed at creating a stronger relationship with our Community and building bonds that span generations. We have been listening to the resident's stories and how their schools used to look "back in the olden days". We have so much to learn from them and they have loved spending time with us too. Val said she "hasn't been this happy in years". We look forward to expanding these learning opportunities throughout the school as the year progresses.

Farm Excursion
Last week, the Kinder children went on an excursion to Mrs V's Farm! We explored the land, collected sticks, made shelters and investigated the shells along the shoreline. We have been learning about the River, and how we need to care for it, so we also collected any litter that we found. We met all of the animals including the sheep who used to be in Kinder! On the way down, the bus stopped so we could visit Neil the Seal. He was so funny and noisy! We had an amazing day in the fresh air exploring all of the wonders that a farm has to offer.

Grade 1/2 Unit Science Exhibition of Learning
Last week, our Grade 1/2 students showcased their scientific understanding and creativity in a captivating Science Exhibition centered on the needs of Australian animals. As a culmination of their recent science unit, students designed and constructed dioramas that vividly depicted various animal habitats, highlighting how different species meet their basic needs for survival.
The exhibition transformed our classrooms into a vibrant gallery of miniature ecosystems. From lush rainforests to arid deserts, each diorama was a testament to the students' research and imagination. The young scientists eagerly explained their projects to visiting families, discussing the specific adaptations and environmental factors that enable animals to thrive in their respective habitats.
We were delighted by the outstanding turnout and the enthusiastic support from our school community. Your presence and engagement made the event truly special for the students, reinforcing the value of their hard work and learning journey. Thank you to all families who attended and celebrated the achievements of our budding scientists. Your encouragement plays a vital role in fostering a love for learning and discovery in our students.

Student Achievements
I competed in the Black Square Chess tournament last weekend. After being in Number 1 for the majority of the day, I lost the lead at the end, but I still managed a medal.
